"3RZ-FEThe 3RZ-FE is a 2.7 L (2,693 cc) I4 version built in Japan. Bore is 95 mm and stroke is 95 mm. Compression ratio is 9.5 to 1. Output is 150 hp (112 kW) at 4800 RPM with 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) of torque at 4000 RPM. This engine features twin, chain-driven balance shafts. It has four valves per cylinder and DOHC. Valve adjustment is by shim over bucket."
"upgrade of the 2L. Bore and stroke remains the same. The most significant change is that the camshaft lifts the valve directly via tappet instead of a rocker arm. The valve clearance is adjusted using shims. Later L engines (3L and 5L) also use this method of valve operation. Maximum output is 89 hp (66 kW) at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque is 157 N·m (116 lbf·ft) at 2,400 rpm."Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_L_engine
"2LII (post-1988) -- 2.4L normally aspirated. Same block as the original 2L, but totally different otherwise. Different head, different timing belt/pulleys. Still referred to as just "2L" by official Toyota literature/manuals, but enthusiasts usually refer to it as the 2LII to distinguish it from the original 2L."Source: http://vpizza.org/~jmeehan/toyotadiesel/

Engine Block, Diesel 2.4 (4 cylinder) (Worth knowing: 22RE 4-cylinder gasoline engines. The 22RE shares the same engine mounts, spacing, and transmission bolt pattern as the L-series diesel engine., source: http://vpizza.org/~jmeehan/toyotadiesel/ ) Later the 2.5 D-4D with common rail came.
